Saba Brings Soul and Style To Royale

On Sunday, June 15th, I had the pleasure of attending a show at Royale in Boston, which was quite different from the concerts I'm used to, and it was truly amazing.

The show opened with DJ Oreo, a DJ from Chicago who knew how to get the party started. He began by taking song requests from the crowd, including a young boy named Nolan, who was attending his first concert. DJ Oreo then spoke to the people at the merch table to give Nolan a free shirt and even shouted him out on stage, which was a really special moment. This DJ was incredibly passionate about music and making people happy, encouraging them to dance and enjoy themselves. I was glad to witness it firsthand.

Next up was an absolute force on stage known as Ovrcast. His sound resembled spoken word poetry, with punchy, hard-hitting lyrics backed by chill beats. Like the first act, he knew how to engage the crowd. He had fun with them, grabbing people’s phones and cameras to film himself while performing, and there were plenty of high-fives exchanged.

Finally, we had Saba, who brought such a comforting atmosphere to the stage. From his presence to the set design, it felt like a homey, relaxed visit with a friend. His music mirrored that same comfort, featuring chill beats and soothing vocals that made for a perfect experience. You could clearly see that the crowd was enjoying it as well. From the people in front singing and jumping to those in the back swaying and dancing, everyone, including Saba, was smiling from ear to ear.

Overall, it was a fantastic show showcasing different talents, sounds, and styles. I highly recommend giving them a listen and checking them out while they are still on tour!
